Balcony - Scholarship New Start Culture, VG Bild Kunst, 2021
Balkonien is a painting project that deals with the question of how people furnish their own balconies. What does the design of the balcony say about its inhabitants and what longings, wishes and dreams should be lived out there? Balconies have taken on new functions during the pandemic. During quarantine, they were important connections to the outside world, places to socialise with other people, but also places to remember the people who had died.

Balkonien is ein Projekt für Malerei, das sich mit der Frage beschäftigt, wie Menschen ihre eingenen Balkone einrichten. Was sagt die Gestaltung des Balkons über ihre Bewohner aus, und welche Sehnsüchte Wünsche, Träume dort ausgelebt werden sollen? In der Pandemiezeit haben Balkone neue Funktionen bekommen. In der Quarantäne waren sie wichtige Verbindungen zur Außenwelt, Orte, um sich mit anderen Menschen in Kontakt treten zu können, aber auch Orte für die Erinnerung an die verstorbenen Menschen.
